OUR BELIEFS

God’s Purpose for Mankind

Revelation 4:11 says, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.” Therefore we believe that we exist for God. And in order to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives, we must first receive God’s Son (John 1:12) and then live our lives for Him (1 Corinthians 10:31).

The Purpose of our Church:

To Know Christ and Make Him Known

To Know Christ - Philippians 3:10 says, “That I may know Him (Christ), and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death.” The word “know” means more than having a knowledge about who Jesus is; it means to have a close relationship with Him. So we believe it is necessary not only to start a relationship with Christ, but to grow in that relationship (2 Peter 3:18), becoming more like Christ (Romans 8:29).

To Make Him Known - Psalm 89:1 says, “I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations.” The Lord Jesus is our merciful and faithful High Priest Who gave Himself as a ransom for ALL (Hebrews 2:17; 1 Timothy 2:6). So it is our goal to make known the good news of Jesus Christ to our community and help spread it across the whole world (Acts 1:8)

Church Doctrinal Statement (Condensed)

The Bible

We believe the Bible, that collection of sixty-six books from Genesis to Revelation, to be the Word of God. We believe that God inspired His Word in the original writings and preserved His Word for all mankind to live by (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Deuteronomy 8:3; 2 Peter 1:21; Psalm 119:89; 1 Peter 1:23-25). We believe the King James Version of the Bible is God’s preserved Word for English-speaking people.

God (The Trinity)

We believe in only one God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Exodus 20:2-3; Isaiah 45:18-22; Jeremiah 10:10; Mark 1:9-11; 1 John 5:7). Each person of the “Trinity” executes distinct but harmonious roles in the great work of redemption (Mark 1:9-11; 1 John 5:7).

Creation of the Universe

We believe in God’s direct creation of the universe in six literal days, apart from any process of evolution whatsoever, according to the Genesis account (Genesis 1 & 2; Exodus 20:11; Jeremiah 10:12; Colossians 1:16-17).

First Coming of Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man (John 1:1-3, 14; Hebrews 1:8; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:20-25; Philippians 2:5-8; Galatians 4:4-5).

Salvation (Everlasting life)

We believe that God has provided the only way of salvation (John 3:5-6, 14:6) from the consequences of sin (Romans 6:23; Revelation 21:8) through Christ’s shed blood on the cross (1 Peter 1:18-19). Salvation is by grace through faith, is a free gift, and is wholly without works (Romans 3:27-28, 4:1-8, 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9). This salvation is available to all mankind with no limitations whatsoever (John 3:16; 1 John 2:2). One must trust in Christ as his only means of salvation (John 3:16; Romans 1:16, 3:22-26; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21). We believe that the salvation of every believer is secure for all eternity from the moment of regeneration (John 10:28-29; Romans 8:33-39; Hebrews 13:5).

Return of Christ

We believe in the personal, premillennial, pretribulational, and imminent return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, when the church will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1:10, 5:9; 2 Peter 2:5-9; Revelation 3:10).

Holiness

We believe that every believer is to be holy, separated from ungodly practices in order to serve the Lord without hindrances (Romans 6:11-13; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; Ephesians 1:4; Titus 2:11-12; 1 Peter 1:16-17; Hebrews 12:1-2;). We believe that godly believers should seek to restore those believers who are overtaken in a fault but should not fellowship with those who presumptuously go against God’s will (Psalm 19:13; 1 Corinthians 5:11; Galatians 6:1-2, 10;).

Family

We believe that marriage was ordained by God as one male and one female becoming one flesh for life (Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 19:3-9; Ephesians 5:22-33). We believe that children are a blessing from God and are to be taught Biblical values by their parents, who are to rear them with loving discipline following the example and instruction of our Lord (Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Psalm 127:3-5; Ephesians 6:4; Revelation 3:19). We believe that human life begins at conception and that from conception through the elderly adult years, life should be respected as a creation of God (Exodus 21:22-23; Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 1:15; Galatians 5:14-23; Romans 13:9-10).

Church

We believe that a New Testament church is a visible group of baptized believers who gather together to exercise their spiritual gifts, encourage one another in their walk, and bear one another’s burdens (2 Corinthians 6:14; 1 Corinthians 12; Galatians 6:2; Hebrews 10:24-25). We believe that the mission of the church is found in the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20).We hold that the local church has the absolute right of self-government and that the one and only superintendent is Christ (Matthew 28:18; Ephesians 1:20-23; Colossians 1:18; 1 Peter 5:4). We believe the two ordinances of the church are baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 28:18; Acts 8:36-39; Romans 6:3-6; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:20-34). We believe the two offices of the church are bishop (pastor) and deacon (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4).
